The Dominion Academy Chorale is a unique, multi-generational choir for DA students and home school students in grades 5-12, parents, DA faculty, staff, alumni, and friends! (That pretty much includes anyone in grade 5 and up!)

Under the direction of Mrs. Amy Willmann, this choral group will rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30, singing a variety of choral literature - from classical sacred pieces to Broadway and jazz standards! Rehearsals will include sight-reading exercises for the beginning musician as well as veteran singers, instruction in proper vocal technique and production, and preparation for community and Dominion Academy performances. Due to occasional school closing and conflicting events, each month will actually average only 2-3 Thursday evening rehearsals, so it is really quite doable, even for busy families.

The concert/performance schedule is also very "sane," and yet very meaningful as well. The Dominion Academy Chorale will perform at the annual Architectural Tour in downtown Dayton during December, one Advent service at Christ the King Anglican Church, a sobering and exquisitely beautiful Good Friday service in April, the Dominion Academy Fine Arts Gala in April, The National Day of Prayer service in May, and the Dominion Academy graduation service in June.

One of the most distinctive features of this particular choral group is the opportunity to sing with people of all ages; the unique sound produced by young voices, mixed with more mature voices, is really quite lovely and unique. This group also creates a context in which families can participate in an educational, inspirational, and cultural endeavor TOGETHER!

Students can add Dominion Academy Chorale to their official transcript and receive academic credit, for only $200 for the entire year. Adults may join for a nominal activity fee ($25), which covers the cost of music, music folders, etc.

Introduction to Photography

This course will be a basic introduction to the tools, procedures, concepts and application of photography. The course will focus on photographic technique, composition and basic darkroom procedures, and assignments will help develop students' knowledge and application of specific aspects of photography. Students will learn how to effectively operate a camera manually, correctly exposing black and white film, will process their own film and will produce finished, display-quality photographs.

Students will need to be prepared with:
  • A 35mm film camera with manually adjustable shutter speeds and aperture
  • A digital camera (any kind is fine!)
  • 2 rolls T-Max 400 film (can be purchased online or at Click Camera)
This class meets by semester, one day per week. Each semester is 1/2 of an enrichment class equivalent.
