What is Advanced Placement Credit?

  • credit given by colleges for passing a high school exam whose course work has been taught at a college level

Why take AP courses?

  1. they count as college classes and colleges give credits for passing these tests (for example, Sinclair Community College automatically credits a student?s transcript with 3 course credits for American History, upon passing the AP test).
  2. they produce a stronger transcript and 'resume' to prospective colleges, inevitably resulting in more scholarship opportunities.
