This spring, the City of Dayton approved what is now phase two of six planned phases to meet required codes for educational use of our building. Phase one, completed last summer, was the installation of a fire alarm system meeting the requirements of buidling and fire code for a building being used as a school.

You can only imagine what all of this is costing.

The photos above and to the left, taken from the end classroom (B2), the science lab, shows Jeff Girard of J.K. Girard Construction installing framing for the new wider, fire-rated hallway.

To the right, the straightening of the curved wall in B1, part of widening the hallway, means the loss of this former storage space, but gains accessible wall space for storage and furniture.

Compared to the photo above, the one on the left is taken from the far end where Mr Girard is standing, looking towards B2, bathrooms on the right..

The photo on the right is taken from the stair landing showing the new fire rated entrace to the hallway leading to the bathrooms and classrooms B1 and B2.

Somewhat amazed and perhaps stunned, Suzanne Green oversees the progress of the work in B2.

While all of the work above is going on, ANOTHER contractor is remodeling the women's bathroom which will have THREE (3) modern (nicer - faster) toilet units.

When this is finished, the bathroom will also have ceramic tile flooring and nice new stalls.
